  • This is my story. There are many like it, but this one is mine. In 1997, I created one of the first Veterans Disability Claims Community, HadIt.com Veteran to Veteran. I named it HadIt.com right after I got off the phone with the VA and said I've had it. In 1997 I was 100% for PTSD/Major Depression. I was having a tough time getting through the day; sometimes, I had to take it 15 minutes at a time. More to come.

    A Mad Sailor

start-here-go-anywhere-cropped.png.326f530c7214debddc5fd39abf954d95.pngHello. My name is Theresa, also known as Tbird. I am the founder of HadIt.com, Veteran to Veteran. As HadIt.com entered its 27th year and I entered my 67th, I decided to put my story on paper. I will consider it a success if it encourages or brings a smile to one person.

Diary of A Mad Sailor blog is all about my life and my journey overcoming PTSD and depression to create a popular veterans website, HadIt.com Veteran to Veteran, in 1997 when no one really understood the web.

This is a work in progress. More will be added as it is written. Some will have videos so you can listen, read, or both. I am teaching myself how to do these videos, so don't expect production quality.

I wanted to share with you my story of how :

    • I created a website that has helped tens of thousands of veterans and had millions of visits.
    • Created a community of over 26k members and thousands of visits a month and have been able to keep it up and running for 27+ Years.
    • I had severe PTSD, Major Depression, and a string of incidents behind me that should have killed me.

I overcame them, got up, and continued. I hope you find it encouraging; that is how it is intended. PTSD does not have to end our ability to contribute to society.

Though I couldn't describe it, I felt pulled towards something more significant than staying in my hometown. It was just a feeling at the back of my mind. I give you some background here on my history because it shaped me into who I am, and I shaped what HadIt.com Veterans became. Despite the mountains I had to overcome or dig a tunnel under, I could always get to the other side, recover, get up, and move on. I was called to help my brother and sister veterans, and even with crushing PTSD/MDD, I could make a difference, even if it was only in one veteran's life, and I could continue to be a productive member of society.

These are stories from my life. Each one, though some horrific, taught me something, even if, at the time, I did not know I was learning something that would prove to be instrumental in my later purpose in life.

This is a work in progress. More will be added as it is written. The posts are published as I create them, so they are in a different order, which may come later if I write enough. Some will have videos so you can listen, read, or both. I am teaching myself how to do these videos, so don't expect production quality.
